Canistel Aurea

$79.00

Aurea produces a large elongated fruit of excellent quality. The fruit is delicious eaten fresh or with a little salt and lemon juice added. Canistels are often added to sweet custards or made into delicious eggnog-like milk shakes.

Canistel - Grey

$79.00

Canistel Grey is a large elongated variety with a unique shape, ripening in late winter/Spring in the subtropics. Canistels are best eaten when they are at their optimum ripeness to achieve a creamy consistency and a sweet custard flavour. Their flowers are formed on their branches, a feature called cauliflory, enabling them to be pruned to keep them small. They tolerate the subtropics quite well.

Mango - Keow Savoey

$69.00

Considered the best of the green eating varieties in Thailand where it is prized for its crunchy flesh texture and nutty sweet flavour. It is mainly used as a green salad vegetable. When ripe it turns a soft green/yellow. Semi-translucent pulp with overripe flavours. Oblong dark green fruit weighing between 170 and 390 grams with a polyembryonic seed

Cinnamon Tree

$27.00 ($27.00-$59.00 choose a size)

Highly ornamental tree and the source of cinnamon spice. The beautiful red new growth is highly distinctive. The spice itself is the inner bark that is peeled from the branches after 2 years. Scrape the outer bark, then peel the inner bark, leave for a day so that the inner bark curls into cinnamon sticks as it dries. They are distinctive in the many layered quill they produce that, when crushed, will shard rather than snap. Cinnamon is a very elegant and useful aromatic, much kinder to the palate than other spices. It imparts a distinctively sweet flavour when used. The leaves themselves are higher in clove oil than cinnamaldehyde, the active component of the sweet aromatic scent of cinnamon. Weed Warning: Can be invasive in tropical areas

I love the look of this tree, the leaves are a brilliant green and even if I can't get it to fruit down here i'll be pretty happy with this as an ornamental.

This apparently is the tropical version of a cherry that tastes like a cherry. Looking forward to trying one!

Cherry of Rio Grande

I have kept one outdoors through a Canberra winter, with temperatures down to minus 6 Celsius, and no visible frost damage. I think it was more troubled by the heavy clay. Memo to Daleys, your catalogue classes its frost-resistance as low. I'd say Medium.

Cherry of Rio Grande

Great value little tree. Tough, reasonably fast, productive and ornamental. Needs decent watering until established. Fertilise with dynamic lifter, apply potash late Winter, mulch well. Delicious fruit. Makes good wine and fruit puddings.
